Nadal struggles past Rosol
Rafael Nadal rallied from the depths to narrowly prevent a repeat of one of his worst career losses as he beat Lukas Rosol 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(4) at the Swiss Indoors on Monday.
Three years ago, the then No. 69 famously upset Nadal in the 2012 Wimbledon second round.
India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea lost 6-4, 1-6, [8-10] to Austria’s Alexander Peya and Brazilian Bruno Soares in the opening round of the men’s doubles event to slump to their second straight first round exit.
THE RESULTS: First round: David Goffin bt Andreas Seppi 3-6, 6-4, 6-4; Adrian Mannarino bt Viktor Troicki 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(3); Rafael Nadal bt Lukas Rosol 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(4); Dominic Thiem bt Robin Haase 0-6, 7-6(5), 7-5.
