England bowls SA out for 214 to take 89-run lead in 1st test

England bowled South Africa out for 214 for an 89-run lead in the first test on Monday, striking a blow early in its series against the top-ranked team.

Stuart Broad dismissed Temba Bavuma second ball of the day to again set the tone for the England bowling attack at Kingsmead.
England enhanced the pre-series suggestions that South Africa’s position as the No. 1 team in test cricket could be vulnerable in this four-match contest.
Broad finished with 4-25 to ably leading the England bowlers in the absence of the injured James Anderson. Spinner Moeen Ali was also an important factor for England with 4-69.
Opener Dean Elgar made 118 not out for South Africa, but that didn’t disguise the current struggles of the South African batting line-up.
