Dhankot stays ahead

Former national champion Shabbir Dhankot struggled a bit but continued to maintain his lead in the 26th National tenpin bowling championship at the BluO, Orion Mall, here on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Tamil Nadu bowler had an average day, scoring 1184 pinfalls with an average of 197.33 in six games on Short Oil pattern. However his fine performance on the opening day helped him stay on pole position with a total pinfall of 2529 at an average of 210.75 after 12 games.
Fellow Elite squad member Akaash Ashok Kumar of Karnataka, who had a low key start, bounced back brilliantly on Wednesday. He began his charge for the top spot with first game of 212 and followed with even better scores of 232 & 231 in next two games. He dropped his guard once in the fourth game with score of 191 but then he finished with 202 pins in the next game and then ended a very impressive day with highest score of the day with 255 pinfalls in game 6. He rose to second spot with total score of 2483 and average of 206.92.
Top 48 bowlers, based on total pin fall of 12 games in Round 1, will move to Round 2 on the third day.
