Friends Union CC (1) emerge champs

Riding on an all-round team performance, Friends Union CC (1) trounced Malleswaram Gymkhana by five wickets to emerge champions in the YS Ramaswamy memorial cricket tournament on Saturday.
Gymkhana, who had two centurions in their lop-sided semifinal win over Hammonds Cricket Club the other day, floundered at a vital moment in the final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
On a day when absolutely nothing worked for them, their batsmen fell like nine pins to be bowled out for a dismal 60 in 30 overs. Right-arm medium pacers Nitish PD (3/23) and B Akhil (3/13) caused much of the damage while Left-arm spinner Naveen B took 2/12.
Chasing a low total was never going pose any problem for Friends Union and they galloped to victory in just 12.1 overs.
Although they lost five wickets, they always remained in control to eventually wrap up a crushing victory.
