KOA names list of award winners

Upcoming shuttler Mahima Agarwal and swimmer Arvind M are among a few athletes that will receive the Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA) awards at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
Announcing the awardees for the 2015 edition, the KOA president K Govindaraj stated that the award will carry a prize money of Rs 50,000, a citation and a memento.
Arvind, a Bengaluru-based swimmer, played a key role in ensuring Karnataka had a fruitful time in the pool as the State side scored a hat-trick of titles, winning the Sub-junior, Junior and the Senior National swimming titles in 2015.
Arvind’s share of medals included a gold, a silver and a bronze at the Senior national meet in Rajkot, apart from the his feat of five gold medals at the State Swimming Meet earlier this year.
While Arvind set the pool ablaze with his nippy strokes, and winning medals for the State, Mahima was kept busy on the badminton court as she too had a fruitful season.
The Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) shuttler was in rich vein of form as she clinched the All-India Junior Ranking tournament here last month to add to her singles crowns in the Junior and the Senior State-ranking meets.
