U-17 WC probables to play some home matches
The Indian U-17 World Cup probables will play a match against WIFA U-15 squad at the Cooperage Stadium on Monday.
Coached by Nicolai Adam, the national hopefuls would be displaying their skills at home for the first time following some training-cum-practice games in Germany and Spain and a tournament in Iran.
Captained by Amarjit Singh Kiyam, the probables played 14 games in Germany against age groups squads from various clubs, including Red Bull Salzburg, Entrechat Frankfurt, and notched up eight wins and two draws.
The teams in Spain included Villarreal, Levant FC and India won two matches and drew one as per information from the AIFF.
The Mumbai game will be followed by a match against IFA XI at Kolkata on January 25, according to Abhishek Yadav, the AIFF Director of Scouting.
Germany’s Adam, former head coach of Azerbaijan, and the under-17 players are in United Arab Emirates for an exposure trip.
India as the host of the under-17 World Cup in 2017 is an automatic qualifier.
