Karnataka’s key batsman Karun Nair struggled with an abdominal pain and could not make an impact as he was dismissed for just 14. Nair, who had slammed a triple century in India’s big win over England in the fifth Test at Chennai, looked in discomfort throughout his brief stay at the wicket but there was no clarity on the nature of his ailment.

The right-hander struggled to run the ones and twos and had to call for the team physiotherapist twice during his innings. Karnataka coach J Arun Kumar said that Nair had experienced abdominal pain. “Karun has pain in the lower abdomen. We will have to get a scan done,” he said.

Nair has a penchant for big scores and he had hammered a triple century when Karnataka played Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy final two seasons ago.
